Working as a TEFL teacher

Question:

Myself and my boyfriend are qualified TEFL teachers and looking to find work in Vietnam. I was just wondering 1. If you need a degree to work as a teacher in Vietnam? 2. Can you get visas for longer than three months once you have secured a job? Thank you, Claire

Answer:

Hi Claire

Thank you for your inquiry.

We are glad to hear that you will be working in our country. Our answers to your questions as follows:

1. yes, before you can work in Vietnam, you are required to obtain a work permit. A work permit can be obtained by yourself or by your employer at:

Department of Labor, Invalids  and Social Affair in the locality where enterprises locate their headquarters

12 Ngo Quyen, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi
Tel. (84-4) 38248193; Fax: (84-4)38241005;
Email: lasic@molisa.gov.vn

2. it is impossible to get a visa longer than 3 months, so you will need to renew it every 3 months when your visa is expired once you are in Vietnam.

Hope that helps.
