Vietnam Visa Exemption Agreement Between Vietnam And China

The Agreement was signed on February 14, 1992 and entered into effect on March 15, 1992; Exchange of notes was carried out on August 16, 2004. The exemption of visa includes exemption of visa for entry, exit and transit. The duration of stay subject to visa exemption begins from the date of entry. The contents of visa exemption agreed upon between Vietnam and China are as follows:

  • Exemption of visa is granted to bearers of diplomatic passports or official passports or ordinary passports for official mission (also granted to their spouse and teenage children who accompany them and share their same passports of any of the above-mentioned three types of passports); there is no provision on concrete duration of stay. (At present, China applies stay duration of 30 days)
  • Visa fee is gratis for members of families (including spouse, children and parents) of officials, administrative or technical staff  of  diplomatic  missions  or  consular  posts  of  the  two countries who visit their relatives working as officials or staff of a  representative mission of their respective country in the other country.

(This Agreement is not applicable to Hong Kong and Macao.)
